a new generation of DPF kits!

While the Offcuts set out to conquer the world (you did secure your bundle, right? Tomorrow is the last day of Early Access!), here in the revived (and very much unextinguished) forges of Durgin Paint Forge, work is already underway for the next release, scheduled for June.

I must admit: after two years of what we might diplomatically call “purgatory” (almost like Ikki of the Phoenix regenerating inside a volcano but without the dramatic soundtrack), being able to properly plan real releases again is nothing short of electrifying.

And June will not bring merely another batch of new Dwarves (always essential in this delightfully unhinged world, of course), but the debut of an entirely new type of product. Nothing revolutionary in the grand history of miniature-kind, but for me? A first!

I’m talking about a new generation of modular kits, designed to ferry your crew toward the uncharted shores of gaming tables everywhere, preserving the quality you so graciously appreciate, while exponentially expanding customisation possibilities.

Does that sound like one of those slightly mysterious late-night infomercials? Fear not. Let’s get specific.

Allow me to introduce two of the first kits arriving in June: Mighty Axes and Sharpest Blades (and yes, if they sound vaguely like Pokémon titles, that is entirely intentional).

MIGHTY AXES

Mighty Axes is designed to give you everything you need to assemble two Iron Crow Warriors armed with Great Axes, one of the three available builds in the game I’m developing (and, frankly, a timeless classic of the archetype: who doesn’t love a Dwarf wielding a proud double-bladed axe?!).

You may notice the kit contains far more components than strictly necessary to build two single Heroes. That is not an accident: It grants you an impressive number of unique variations.

108, to be precise.

Yes. I counted. So you don’t have to.

On its own, this compact kit can already provide hours of deeply satisfying hobby time. But why stop at the foothills when there’s an entire dwarven pyramid to climb?

That’s where Sharpest Blades enters the scene.

SHARPEST BLADES

Sharpest Blades includes even more components than Mighty Axes, because it allows you to build two different Iron Crow Warrior loadouts:

  • Dwarven Blades & Shields

  • Paired Blades

And instead of assembling two characters, you’ll be able to build three.

Once again, with enough interchangeable parts to generate a generous amount of unique combinations, at least until you run out of ideas (or decide it might finally be time to start painting).

If Voltron taught us anything, it’s that combining several very cool things usually results in something even cooler.

These kits follow the same philosophy.

You’ll be able to freely mix components between Mighty Axes and Sharpest Blades, creating the Iron Crow Warriors of your dreams (or at least the ones your dice deserve!).

Mighty Axes and Sharpest Blades kits mashup

As you may have guessed, the broader idea is to develop two complementary product lines:

  • Classic single-character releases (like Gunnar, Olga, or Lorin).

  • Compact modular kits that explore an archetype more deeply than ever before, and in many cases “communicate” with one another like pieces of a gloriously over-engineered puzzle.

LEAN DESIGN, LEAN PRICING

These modular kits will be streamlined not only in design, but also in price range.

The current plan is:

  • 2-model kits: €18–20

  • 3-model kits: €24–26

Accessible, flexible, and dangerously expandable.

Of course, Mighty Axes and Sharpest Blades won’t be the only kits arriving in June… but surely you don’t expect me to spoil everything already?

If you’re one of my Patreon supporters — besides being objectively blessed with divine beauty, obvious intelligence, and impeccable fashion sense — you can probably already guess what else is coming this year.

For now, I’ll leave it here.

I’m genuinely curious to hear your thoughts on what might become — apocalypse permitting — the most prolific year ever at Durgin Paint Forge.

Bona!
